Introduction ::
When computing equipment is no longer needed or reaches end of life (EOL) it can be picked-up using the Asset and Configuration Surplus Pick Up process. The process ensures the proper form is used for all Intel employees and Intel computing equipment. It also increases the accountability of computing equipment assigned to employees. It adds to the computing equipment registration data quality & transparency. Following the documented procedures makes sure the correct Intel computing equipment disposal request process is adhered to.

An Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) acronym that stands for “Configuration Item”.
- In Intel, CI represents any computing equipment that needs to be managed, in order to deliver an IT service.
- CI information is captured as a configuration record in ISMP Configuration Management System and is maintained throughout its lifecycle.
Examples: Laptops, Desktops, Servers, Network Gear, Telecom Gear, etc.
|
| Non-Configuration Item (Non-CI) |
Computing peripherals, hard drives, or equipment that are not tracked nor asset-managed in the ISMP tool.
Examples: Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, etc.
|
| Condition |
Denotes the operational state of the computing equipment. Examples: Functional, Not Functional, Unknown. |

| Pick-Up Location Type |
The location from which the computing equipment is to be picked up.
- Intel: An Intel location where direct pick-up is possible.

Request Flow / Process Flow ::
Request Submission Flow
The ISMP Asset & Configuration Users must submit their Surplus Pick-up request at the ISMP Surplus Pickup form on the ISMP Asset & Configuration system. Any other Intel employees need to use the Surplus.intel.com or TAC.intel.com portal. Once the Surplus Pick Up request is successfully submitted, an automated notification is sent to the requester and will be waiting in the Asset Disposition open tasks queue for further actions.
Surplus Pick-Up Process Flow
The process starts by submitting a Surplus Pick Up Request on ISMP and ensure the relevant procedures are adhered to. The subsequent actions, that are the assignment of surplus pick-up tasks to self, contact requester, close surplus pick-up tasks, review pick-up tasks, receive equipment and the associated ISMP system referencing and updates will either be taken care by the Disposition Specialist or the ISMP system workflow.
